Success Story

We are proud of your rehabilitation accomplishments, Ms. Ryll!

Ms. Florence Ryll was admitted to Belltower in early May following a fall at her Assisted Living Facility which resulted in a fractured right ankle. Ms. Ryll was not allowed to use her right foot for any mobility when she was admitted to Belltower. Occupational and physical therapy worked with Florence to help her learn how to safely get in and out of bed, chairs, and manage her personal care needs using modified techniques. Due to her complex medical condition, Ms. Florence chose to stay at Belltower through her healing process to ensure that she healed correctly and completely.

As she transitioned through the phases of healing, she was able, at intervals determined by her orthopedic doctor, to increase her weight bearing on the right foot with the use of a special walking boot. Ms. Florence’s fracture healed slowly but well and she was able to progress to being up and about on her right foot with her special walking boot and using her four wheeled walker without the need for staff to assist her. As she became more and more mobile, Ms. Florence tackled all her self-care and endurance goals with gusto, she was determined to return to her ALF as soon as possible, where she leads a walking group of several residents in their daily 1-mile walk! It was truly our pleasure, Ms. Florence, to participate in your recovery and return to independence! Prior to leaving Belltower, Ms. Florence walked to the nurses’ station and the therapy department to bring the staff some candy as a thank you. She let everyone know that she was grateful for the excellent care that she had received! Thank you, Ms. Florence! We wish you and your walking group, safe and happy stepping!
