Success Story
“I am so happy to get back on my feet again!”

Ms. Sydia Lauer was admitted to Belltower Health and Rehabilitation center on August 1, 2024, following a hospitalization to repair fractures to both of her legs, which she sustained in a fall at home. When she was admitted to Belltower Ms. Sydia was not able to do much for herself as she had full-length leg braces on both legs and was not allowed to put any weight through either of her legs at all. During her stay here with us, Sydia received both occupational and physical therapy to address strengthening, transfers, bed mobility and repositioning, self-care and dressing; and as she healed and her weight bearing was increased by her orthopedic surgeon; we added learning to walk again to her treatment plan. Ms. Sydia is blessed to have a very supportive family. Her husband and granddaughter were here every day through her recovery, pushing her to do her best and cheering on all her successes, no matter how small!
Sydia’s biggest obstacle to surmount, once she was able to be up on both of her legs again, was ultimately her fear of falling again, which she overcame through constant reassurance and staff and family support! With a lot of hard work and dedication, Ms. Lauer was able to go back home with her husband, walking with the aid of a rollator walker. We would not be surprised if she is giving her husband a run for his money at home, which is saying something for sure, since her hubby is a marathon runner!!
You go Ms. Sydia; we are so very proud of you, and we are all impressed with your work ethic and dedication to your successful recovery! Ms. Sydia said, upon her discharge, that she was looking forward to attending a University of Notre Dame football game with her husband, and she remarked that she would even have the confidence to climb the bleachers in the stadium! Cheer loud Ms. Sydia, we’ll be watching for you on TV during the games!
